SPRING BREAKERS

"Bikinis and big bootys, ya'll. That's what life's all about"

 

So I saw the film Spring Breakers and I was actually surprised at how much I liked it.

 

 

For those of you who have been living under a rock, Spring Breakers is that movie you've probs heard about with the Disney chicks in it. And since the info about it on IMDB is WRONG...here's a brief synopsis:

 

Basically what happens is four besties who go to a boring college in a boring small town want to go to Florida to have a spring break they'll never forget. Realising they have nowhere near enough money to get them out of town, they rob a local restaurant and set off.

 

Faith (Selena Gomez), Candy (Vanessa Hudgens), Brit (Ashley Benson) and Cotty (Rachel Korine) go WILD. Drugs, sex and drinking are obvious themes. There's a LOT of boobs shown (boys, there's incentive for you), there's not really much use of clothes and what used to be sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens apparently loves giving blow jobs.

 

 Anyway, the girls get caught doing drugs at a party and get thrown in jail. They're rescued by black boy rapper trapped in a white boy body with silver grillz, Alien, (James Franco) and then find themselves caught in a gangland/druglord type scenario.

 

The girls fall like flies and two go back home until only two are left, and the girls go to amazing lengths to have a spring break that they'll actually never forget.

 

 

The cinematography is amazing. The colours are amazing. It's a fantastic film student studyable movie.

 

The acting is really surprisingly good. I hated Hudgens in HSM but she's definatley lost her sweet Disney-girl badge, that's for sure.

 

The movie is disjointed, it skips from the present to the future, to the past and back to the present. But I guess that's to tie in with how drug-f*cked they are and the whirlwind that spring break apparently is (I wouldn't know, I'm just an Australian).

 

Anyway, do yourself a favour and see the film. You won't regret it!
